“We talked to Vivian and she’s not into it right now,” Cunniff says. “We always worked that way anyway: loops and collage.” (Keyboardist Vivian Trimble, who was the first member to leave the band, is not part of the reunion. “She’d send them to us and I’d incorporate them in,” Cunniff says. Cunniff learned ProTools and acted as producer she and Glaser worked together in Brooklyn, while drummer Kate Schellenbach recorded her drum parts in Los Angeles.

The result, Magic Hour, out November 5th, is a hip-shaking delight. Although they plan to release the children’s music soon, first they wanted to make a new adult album. In those years, crowdfunding had become a reality, so they got financing from fans via the PledgeMusic website. Four years later, though, singer/guitarist Gabby Glaser played the music for her toddler son and his friends, and discovered that the kids went nuts for it.
